How to Measure Your Wall For Wallpaper

Five quick rules that save you from a re-order, a color mismatch, and a really frustrating install day.

Measure the entire wall, top to bottom and side to side. Trim around the window, closets, and door during installation. Panels are custom-printed for your space and are not eligible for refund or return. Let's make sure you feel confident before you buy.

  1. Each panel is 19 inches wide.

    Five panels = 95 inches of wall coverage. Six panels = 114 inches. And so on.

  2. Order all your panels at once.

    Some patterns don't repeat exactly every 19 inches. The design repeat sometimes extends beyond a single panel. Panels are custom-printed when you order in sequence to line up on your wall, so they can't be added to later, and colors and print are not guaranteed to match on panels ordered separately later, if you need more. (Let's make sure you're prepared the first time by measuring correctly.)

  3. Panel order matters. No exceptions.

    Each panel is printed and numbered to be installed in order, left to right. Panels installed out of order may not match correctly, as you cannot piece them together around doors and windows or out of order. ( See above image)

  4. Measure the full wall: across windows, doors, and all.

    Always measure the entire width and entire height, including over windows, trim, doors, wainscoting, and any other openings. You'll trim around them during installation. Skipping these in your measurement will leave you short.

  5. Round up. Always. 

    Because every order is custom-printed, slight color shifts can happen between print runs. If you come up short and need to re-order, we cannot guarantee an exact color match. When in doubt, order one extra panel. It's a lot cheaper than a full re-do.

  6. How to Measure and Order, in plain English:

    1. Measure the height of your wall at its tallest point. (See vaulted ceiling info below.)
    2. Measure the full width of your wall in inches.
    3. Divide the total inches width by 19 and round up. That's the quantity of panels you will need.
